There are many benefits to having a detachable camper, not the least of which is that you can take it with you when you need it and leave it at home when you don't--you don't need to own two vehicles if your camper can be hitched to your car (most passenger vehicles can easily tow the nomad (~1,100 lbs) or dyad (~1,300 lbs), and even the nest (~1,500 lbs and which is equipped with brakes). You can also leave your camper when you want to go further afield; use it as a base camp from which you hike in or canoe out for a few nights of tent camping, and then have the comforts of home when you return to your camper.
